A girl named Ash Soto was just 12 years old when she was diagnosed with vitiligo. If you didn’t know, vitiligo is a rare skin condition that actually causes different patches of the skin to lose pigmentation.
As you can imagine, the more her vitiligo spread, the more she was bullied as a child. She was embarrassed because people would make fun of her skin. She started to fully cover herself all of the time after a little girl asked her if she had taken a shower in bleach when she saw her in a bikini. So sad.
Kids and even teens and adults can be evil when it comes to making fun of people who are different or unique in some way. She Soto says, “I’ve been called cow, I was once told I had Michael Jackson syndrome. How can an innocent girl trying to find herself take that?”
